Well, it has been a number of months since I have been able to focus on my business but I’m pleased to say that today I have managed to sit down for 6 hours in one hit as my daughter started nursery today.

It has been frustrating yet rewarding. This site had been hacked, malicious content inserted, and as I have been absent I hadn’t picked up on it.

So why was today rewarding.

I have managed to track back through my source code (I’m no pro) and find the offending code and remove it. I am very pleased with myself at the moment but I have yet to hear back from google as to whether they are giving the site the all clear!

Regardless I am pleased that I am back on board and have a list as long as my arm of interesting and useful resources which I will be sharing with my subscribers.

I have also learnt these past few months that I need a long term sustainable business model which may take time to grow. Fortunately I invested in a course which has explained the nuts and bolts of Internet Marketing and I now actually understand how things work. Again, I am going to develop what I have learned and share in order to help others.

Affiliate Marketing can be hard. Like it or not is is not as easy as some gurus will have you believe and using push button software does not work. Don’t get me wrong, there are some great tools out there which will help you to simplify the processes you need to go through but if you don’t have a basic understanding of how and why things work you will find it difficult to make money.

My story is similar to many other people. I come from a Corporate background and for many years I tried and failed with Network marketing and Affiliate Marketing. Here are just some of the problems I experienced that I have since identified.

• I did not invest enough time on learning the right way to do things
• I underestimated the time required and set unrealistic goals
• I jumped from product to product looking for an easy fix
• I did not plan properly and stick to a plan

When I had my daughter it became a whole new ball game. I had planned to go back to my 6 figure job after 3 months. I knew very quickly that this wasn’t going to be the case and started looking into new opportunities to earn online. Needless to say I again underestimated things, this time my daughter! I got involved in a Network Marketing Opportunity which cost me $2000 and I simply had no time to make the required calls, follow up and even create a proper business plan.

Fast forward to Christmas 2010. I bought Deadbeat SuperAffiliate from Dan Brock which I found a really good purchase. As I for once had found someone who actually delivered something useful, I attended a webinar for Bring The Fresh by Kelly Felix and Mike Long. This is the point that I actually started making money.

One of the things these guys do is that they actually give you their personal contact details so I emailed Mike, explained my financial position and where I would like to go, including the time I had to devote to working online and he gave me some very good advice. He suggested a couple of strategies, I followed the step by step training within BTF and I actually made $1000 within a couple of weeks.

Now, a word of caution, I have not made that money every week but then I have not applied myself properly either. I’ve moved Interstate and visited the UK in the past couple of months and to be honest I’ve let things slide. Now I am back into the swing of things and am confident that I will continue to grow my online income.

I cannot speak highly enough of BTF. Not only is there a ridiculous amount of useful and useable information provided, there are also a huge amount of people resources. What I mean by that is that within the forum you have people with varying levels of success and experience in all areas of Internet Marketing. You can ask questions, they will get answered, you can learn from the best and from others mistakes. You can share your successes and overall it is a very positive place to be a part of.

On the down side, it is very easy to get sidetracked within the forum in the same way that you may on Facebook so you really need to discipline yourself. This is actually my key to success and something that I talk about in some of my other posts. Personally, I allow myself 10 minutes a day to browse and ask any questions I have then I get back to my task list.

If you are looking for a realistic way to make a living online including through Affiliate Programs this is worth a look. You are taught the right way to do things by people who are doing it themselves. I am one of those success stories and have in fact been asked to do a testimonial for Mike which I am going to do. It is refreshing to find this approach online in an industry that very often rips you off!

Today I thought I’d write an introduction to Amazon Associates.

Until a couple of months ago I was very focused on Clickbank as my main income stream. I have since been introduced to Amazon which although it gives smaller commissions is easy to tap in to if you know how.

The key here is to pick a domain name that has exact match searches and to pick keywords that are buying indicators. If you can do this and know how to rank your page with good SEO you have a good chance of getting targeted buyers looking at your site.

In order to do this it is important that you understand firstly how to find these things but more importantly you know how to analyse whether it is a good bet to promote with.  

There are free online tools such as google’s adwords tool which will give you an indication of search traffic as a starting point but of course you must know how to read the results.

Here are some tips:

• Ask yourself whether your keyword tells you anything about the buyer. A good example is “yoga for new mums”. Straight away you know that the person searching wants to learn about yoga, has a baby and probably wants to get back in shape.  If you can capture that person and give them what they want it’s half of the battle. All you need to do next it join Amazon Associates and find the perfect product for them.
• Make sure your domain name is relevant, this will help with SEO (although there is lots to be learned about that subject!)
• Choose a product with good reviews and give examples of what people have said. It’s important not to appear too biased and sprinkle in a couple of less complementary quotes.

Amazon is a trusted name so if you can provide a review of what the buyer is researching there is good chance that person will click on your link and proceed to go shopping.

This is a very valid questions. I know as well as anyone that the amount of affiliate products out there, whether e-products or physical is ridiculous. It is not easy to pick one that works and it is not easy to promote it even if you get a winner.

This website is primarily aimed at those who are trying to make a living online and keep banging their heads against a brick wall. It is no wonder that 95% of those who try Internet Marketing fail. One of the key aspects of success is often left out by product owners trying to convince you to buy their latest offering. You need organisation, commitment and a plan. You also need a strategy that suits your situation, someone working part time with a large disposable income can take a very different approach to someone who is working 60 hours a week, is struggling and just wants to make a change.

The only products you will see promoted here are those which I use myself. I am happy to let you know how I am doing with them if you want to ask.
